Bangladesh to celebrate first-ever National Rural Development Day tomorrow

DHAKA, July 5, 2026 (BSS) – National Rural Development Day will be observed tomorrow for the first time coinciding with the 47th founding anniversary of CIRDAP and the Second International Rural Development Day.

The theme of day is "Developed Villages, Prosperous Nation: Bangladesh First", said a press release.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today issued separate messages on the eve of the day.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today unveiled a commemorative postage stamp of Taka 10, a first-day cover and a Taka 5 data card marking the day.

The initiative aims to recognise the contribution of rural economy and rural development to the country and highlight the significance of the day among the public.

Two programmes will be held at Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) and Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital tomorrow to mark the day.

CIRDAP's 47th founding anniversary and the second International Rural Development Day programme will be held at 9am at its auditorium

Another programme of National Rural Development Day 2026 will be held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 10:00 am.

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will attend the events as the chief guest, while State Minister Mir Shahe Alam will be present as the special guest.
