33 senior police officers sent to retirement

DHAKA, July 5, 2026 (BSS) - The government has sent 33 senior Bangladesh Police officers into retirement, citing public interest. 

The decision was announced in a gazette notification issued on Sunday by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

Senior Secretary Monjur Morshed Chowdhury signed the notification. 

According to the notification, the officers, who belong to the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre, have been retired under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018, in the public interest. 

They will receive all retirement benefits in accordance with the applicable rules, and the order takes immediate effect. 

Among the retired officers are DIG Mollah Nazrul Islam (attached to Rajshahi, currently under arrest), DIG Md. Saiful Islam (OSD at the Ministry of Home Affairs, currently under arrest), DIG Miraj Uddin Ahmed (attached to Sylhet Range), DIG Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman (attached to Rangpur Range), DIG S.M. Mostak Ahmed Khan (attached to the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah), DIG Jihadul Kabir (attached to Chattogram Range), DIG Moinul Haque (attached to the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah), DIG Md. Ilias Sharif (attached to Sylhet Range), DIG Shyamal Kumar Nath (attached to APBN Headquarters, Dhaka), DIG Md. Zakir Hossain Khan (attached to Chattogram Range), and DIG Md. Shah Abid Hossain, BPM (attached to Chattogram Range).
