Police arrest two with 112 KGs of ganja

DHAKA, July 08, 2026 (BSS)- Police today seized a total of 112 kilograms (KGs) of ganja in two separate drives from city’s Badda and Darus Salam road areas and arrested two people in this connection.

According to the media wing of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), a team of the traffic police Gulshan zone halted a Rampura bound jeep in front Habib Plaza on Rampura road this morning. The driver of the jeep managed to escape from the vehicle to avoid arrest and police later recovered 100 kilograms of Ganja from the vehicle.
Police seized the jeep and lodged a case with Badda thana in this connection.

In another drive, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, Motijheel zone, has arrested two drug traders from Darus Salam area on Tuesday evening and seized 12 KGs of ganja from their possession.

The arrested persons were identified as Arif Miah and Amir Hamza. The estimated value of the seized ganja is worth over taka four lakhs.

Police said, the arrested persons and their other accomplices are involved in drug trading in different parts of the city for long time.

Lawful actions have been taken against the arrested persons.
