Dipen visits shelter, distributes food among evacuees in Rangamati

DHAKA, July 9, 2026, (BSS) - Lawmaker Advocate Dipen Dewan today distributed food among people taking shelter at Rangamati Government High School shelter centre following continuous rainfall and the risk of landslides.

During his visit to the shelter centre this afternoon, he inquired about the condition of the evacuees and distributed food items among them.

While visiting the shelter, Advocate Dipen Dewan said that, drawing lessons from the devastating landslides of 2017, the establishment of permanent shelter centres in Rangamati has become a demand of the time to better deal with future disasters. 

He also said he would discuss the matter with the Prime Minister.

Dipen said that everyone must remain vigilant to avoid the risk of landslides, so people living in vulnerable areas should stay at safe shelter centres.

After visiting the shelter centre, Advocate Dipen Dewan also visited the Tabalchhari ADC Hill Junior High School shelter centre.

Deputy Commissioner Najma Ashrafi, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ruhul Amin, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Tarek Sekandar, BNP Vice-President Ali Babar, Joint Secretary Advocate Saiful Islam Ponir, Sadar Thana BNP President Md. Mujibul Haque and District Jubo Dal Joint Secretary Md. Nazim Uddin, among others, were present during the visit.
