COX'S BAZAR, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M. Iqbal Hossain today said the government has taken necessary measures to provide all kinds of assistance, including food and medical support, for people affected by floods caused by continuous rainfall and upstream water flow.

He made the remarks while distributing relief materials among flood victims at a shelter centre in Ghuniya area under Fashiakhali Union of Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar district today.

Iqbal Hossain said the government would provide whatever assistance is needed until the suffering of waterlogged people is reduced. 

He said the government would also arrange whatever allocation is required for this purpose.

"No affected person will be left out of government assistance," he added.

He also said the government has plans to support affected people through post-flood rehabilitation and repair works and initiatives would be taken accordingly.

The state minister reached Chakaria in the afternoon and inspected various disaster-affected areas. 

During the visit, he witnessed the suffering of affected people firsthand and inquired about their situation.

Later, he distributed relief materials among flood-affected people staying at the shelter centre in Ghuniya under Fashiakhali Union of Chakaria.

Deputy Commissioner Md. A. Mannan, Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shaheen Delwar and senior officials of the administration were present.
