Tk 97 lakh stolen from Lavender Group chairman car recovered, driver detained

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Industrial Police have detained a driver accused of stealing Tk one crore from the vehicle of the chairman of Lavender Group and recovered Tk 97 lakh of the stolen cash within 48 hours of the incident.

The accused, identified as Jahid, was tracked down and detained from Jhenaidah following an intensive operation by the Industrial Police, Gazipur.

"Acting promptly after receiving information about the theft, Industrial Police launched a coordinated operation, identified the suspect and detained him from Jhenaidah within 48 hours," Additional Inspector General of Industrial Police Gazi Jashim Uddin told BSS..

He said Tk 97 lakh out of the Tk one crore allegedly stolen from the chairman's vehicle has been recovered.
