DMP files 1,687 cases for traffic law violations in city

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,687 cases against traffic law violators during the last 24 hours in the capital.

DMP media and public relations division press release issued here today said that during the drives, a total of 420 vehicles were dumped and 303 vehicles were towed. 

It said, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 135 cases, including 17 against buses, one truck, 10 covered vans, nine CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 33 motorcycles. 

The Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 156 cases, including nine against buses, nine trucks, two covered vans, 12 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 74 motorcycles, while the Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 239 cases, including against 25 buses and 119 motorcycles, it said.

The release said the Traffic-Wari Division filed 271 cases, including 23 against buses, 32 trucks, 17 covered vans, 29 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 92 motorcycles and the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 137 cases, including against one bus, one trucks, six covered vans, 25 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 64 motorcycles.

Apart from this, it said Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 316 cases, including 12 against buses, 10 trucks, 14 covered vans, 33 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 177 motorcycles and the Traffic-Uttara Division filed 283 cases, including against 28 buses, 13 trucks, 17 covered vans, 32 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 112 motorcycles.

The DMP said the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 150 cases, including 40 against buses, one truck, seven covered vans, 21 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 36 motorcycles.

It said that the DMP’s traffic enforcement drives would continue across the capital to ensure traffic discipline.
