DHAKA, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has received a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States regarding the assets of former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his wife Rukmila Zaman.

Deputy Director of the ACC's Public Relations Department Md Aktarul Islam disclosed this at the commission's regular media briefing at its headquarters today.

He said assistance was sought from the US Central Authority, Office of International Affairs (OIA), through a Mutual Legal Assistance Request (MLAR) regarding the bank, business and property records of Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his wife Rukmila Zaman, as well as the seizure and forfeiture of proceeds of crime held in the United States.

Following the request, the FBI sent a report on the matter.

The ACC said cooperation from the relevant US authorities was sought as part of efforts to collect information on the assets, bank accounts and business activities of the former land minister and his wife in Bangladesh and abroad.

The official said the report sent by the FBI would now be reviewed as part of the ACC's ongoing investigations into the matter.
