DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS)-Sheltech Cricket Academy Women's team sprung a
surprise in the inaugural day of the Women's Dhaka Premier League (WDPL) as
they stunned defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club by 53 runs at Sher-
e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Opting to bat first, Sheltech put up a respectable 249-9, riding on half-
centuries from opener Ishma Tanjim and Sumaiya Akter.
Sumaiya made team-best 83 off 101, smashing seven fours and two sixes while
Ishma made 68.
Sanjida Akter Meghla scalped 4-35 for Mohammedan and was ably supported by
Fariha Trishna who had figures of 3-54.
But the bowlers' effort went in vain as Mohammedan batters fumbled under
sustained pressure from the Sheltech bowlers. Mohammedan eventually were
bowled out for 196 in 48.1 overs with Sharmin Akter Supta waging a lone
battle.
Supta scored 103 ball-73 with three fours and two sixes amid the regular
wickets tumbling.
Fahima Khatun was the most successful bowler for Sheltech with 3-33.
