Bangladesh fails to cross quarterfinals hurdle

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2025 (BSS)-The Bangladesh archery team failed to cross the
quarterfinals hurdle as they lost both the compound men's and women's team
events of the 2025 Asia Cup World Ranking tournament, stage-1 held in
Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.

The Bangladesh men's archery team comprising Himu Bachar, Md Sohel Rana and
Newaz Ahmed Rakib lost to South Korea 228-236 in the compound men's team
event while the women's archery team comprising Bonna Akter, Pushpita Jaman
and Khurshid Jahan lost to their Indian counterparts 224-234 in the compound
women's team event in their respective quarterfinals.  

In the recurve men's singles event elimination round, Ramkrishna Shaha lost
to his Chinese rival in the round of 1/24 match while in the recurve women's
singles event Sonali Roy and Sima Akter lost to Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong
China respectively in the round of 1/16.

In the compound men's singles event, Himu Bachar and Sohel Rana reached round
of 1/16 eliminating their respective rivals in the 1/24 matches. Newaz Ahmed
Rakib however lost to his Singapore rival Eer Jiang Ying.

In the compound women's singles event, Bonna Akter and Puspita Jaman advanced
to the round of 1/16 eliminating their respective rivals in the 1/24 matches.
Khurshid Jahan however lost to her Thailand rival Ponsri Chanidapa.
