BOA's 2-day workshop concluded

DHAKA, March 12, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) organized first ever two-day workshop titled 'Gender equality and women leadership' from March 11 to 12 at BOA Bhaban, said a press release.

The workshop, which concluded today, was organized with the funding of the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Solidarity and in collaboration with the Olympic Council of Asia.

A total of forty seven players, coaches, and organizers from various Olympic and non-Olympic national federations took part in the workshop.

BOA director general Brigadier General (retd) ABM Shefaul Kabir was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking as the chief guest, the director general of BOA laid special emphasis on women's rights and giving them due respect.

On the first day (Tuesday) of the workshop, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman discussed in detail how a person with a sports personality can develop their public skills and at the end of the discussion, answered various questions from the participants on this topic. 

Then, Akhtar Hossain Khan discussed the status of gender equality in Bangladesh and the obstacles and opportunities that exist in the field of women's sports in the country. 

After the discussion, the participants gave presentations in six groups on how to increase the presence of women in sports by solving the problems presented in the case studies.

On the second day (Wednesday) of the workshop, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Siddiqui discussed the issue of developing women's leadership in sports. 

Dr. Farzana Akter Bhuiyan discussed the issues to be addressed in ensuring fitness and well-being in sports. 

After the discussion, the participants again gave presentations in six groups on the process of increasing women's participation in sports by solving the problems presented in the case study.

BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and distributed certificates among the participants.

He said it is possible to increase women's leadership by organizing such workshops. 

BOA treasurer AK Sarkar, members of the BOA executive committee, BOA director general and officials were also present at the closing ceremony.
