MIAMI, March 16, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - US Soccer Federation president Cindy Parlow Cone has been elected to the FIFA Council after a vote at the congress of regional body CONCACAF.

Parlow Cone was elected as the representative for the North America region, one of five members of the ruling council from CONCACAF.

Randy Harris of Barbados was elected for the Caribbean region and Sonia Fulford of the Turks and Caicos was voted in to serve as the women's representative.

All three officials were elected unopposed at CONCACAF's 40th ordinary congress in St. Lucia on Saturday.

The two other seats on the council are held by CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani and Central America representative Rodolfo Villalobos of Costa Rica.

"I am honored to be elected to represent US Soccer, North America, and CONCACAF on the FIFA Council. I look forward to continuing our work on the global level to advance our initiatives and strengthen our region's global position," said Parlow Cone in a statement.

Parlow Cone has been president of US Soccer since March 2020 afer previously serving as vice-president of the organization.

A former US women's national team player, she featured 158 times for her country and was also a coach at women's club side Portland Thorns.

She faces an election to remain as president of US Soccer in 2026 -- the year that the USA will co-host the World Cup with Mexico and Canada.

Parlow Cone has led several changes in the organization. Under her leadership the federation has hired J.T. Batson as CEO and secretary general, and also brought in sporting director Matt Crocker, Emma Hayes as women's national team coach and Mauricio Pochettino to lead the men's team into the World Cup.

US Soccer is also moving from its long-standing base in Chicago to a new headquarters in Atlanta, where a national training center is being built.
