Zia finishes 15th place in Sharjah Masters Chess

DHAKA, May 26, 2025 (BSS)-FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia finished 15th
position and FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid became 21st out of 142 players
in the Sharjah Masters Chess, category-B that concluded in Sharjah, United
Arab Emirates on Sunday last, said a press release.

Zia and Sajid both scored six points each from nine games. Woman
International Master Wadifa Ahmed finished 92nd position and woman Candidate
Master Walijah Ahmed finished 93rd position with four points each also from
nine games.

In the ninth or final round matches, Zia split point with woman grandmaster
Beydullayeva Govhar of Azerbaijan. Sajid defeated International Master Arfan
Aditya Bagus of Indonesia. Wadifa Ahmed split point with Rudra Verma of
Australia while Walijah Ahmed defeated Saud Bader Huwair Alzarooni of the
United Arab Emirates.

Indian International Mayank Chakraborty emerged champion with 7.5 points in
the meet.

A total of 142 players from 34 countries including six grandmasters, one
woman grandmaster, 22 international masters and nine women's international
masters participated in the event.
