Khokon, 51, son of the late Abu Bakkar Sardar, is accused of being heavily involved in criminal activities, including robberies in the deep forests of the Sundarbans.

He was apprehended following a well-coordinated operation by the Army’s Kaliganj Camp, based on intelligence that some armed robbers were sheltering in the area.

A team led by Kaliganj Army Camp Commander Lt. Radid Hasan surrounded Khokon’s home in Chhota Bhetkhali area. Sensing the presence of Army, Khokon attempted to flee by jumping from the roof top of his house. However, he was quickly apprehended by a patrol team stationed nearby.

While conducting a search operation at his residence, the Army seized a number of illicit items, including a shot gun, 27 rounds of fresh ammunition, four button mobile phones, five android mobile phones, a knife, a small axe, a chapatti (local weapon) and 4 kg of venison.

These items were handed over to Shyamnagar Police Station for necessary legal proceeding.

According to sources from the Army Camp, Khokon and his associates have been engaged in illegal activities in the Sundarbans for several years. A weapon-related case against him from 2017 is also reportedly pending.
