BOGURA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent former Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Hamidul Alam Milon to jail in a flat sale fraud case.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Bogura Md. Mehedi Hasan passed the order after hearing the statement of the prosecution and rejected his bail petition.
Earlier, on August 21 last year, one Zahedur Rahman Tofa filed the fraud case against Hamidul and his wife Shahjadi Alam. Two more alleged victims-Nur Alam and Forkan Ali later filed separate fraud cases with the court on similar charges.
The former Adi-DIG Milon appeared before the court in Tofa’s case today but the CJM ordered the former police official to be taken to jail.
Milon who hailed from Sariakandi upazila of the district, is currently residing at Medha Tower in city’s Maltinagar area. On September 10 this year, he was given forced retirement by a presidential order for participating in his wife’s election campaign. Citing illness, he had taken over a month-long leave in September–October 2023, when he campaigned for his wife for Bogura-1 constituency.
According to the court sources, developer company Messrs. Medha Enterprise, operated by Milon’s wife Shahjadi Alam, initiated construction of a multi-storey building named Medha Shah Castle.
In 2018, Taka 100,000 was taken in cash from each of six individuals for giving them flats in a building under construction behind the Bogura SP Office. The developer firm Medha Enterprise, run by the then Additional DIG Hamidul and his wife, signed contracts and constructed a ten-storey building at the site. However, Milon and his wife allegedly began delaying the handover of the flats to the six buyers.
Nur Alam and his relatives signed their contract on April 8 in 2018. Despite the passage of many years, the flats were not handed them over.
According to the contract, if the accused fails to hand over the flat within 42 months, they would be obligated to pay Tk 10,000 per month to the buyers as house-rent compensation.
When the accused failed to meet any contractual obligations, the victims demanded the return of their payments. But ShahjadiAlam and her husband Hamidul Alam, allegedly stalled both the handover of the flats and the repayment. Later, the complainant and his relatives served a legal notice. Subsequently, earlier this year, Nur Alam filed another case against Milon and his wife.
Bogura Court Police Inspector Shahidul Islam said that when Milon appeared in court today and sought bail but the court rejected the petition and sent him to jail. The judge also issued an arrest warrant against Milon’s wife Shahjadi Alam Lipi.
