Two restaurants fined in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, March 14, 2026 (BSS) - The National Consumer Rights Protection Department conducted a market surveillance drive in the district town today and fined two restaurants a total of Taka 30,000 for various food safety violations.

The drive was carried out in the town's Municipal New Market and Jorpukur Par areas by Abdullah Al Imran, Assistant Director of the district office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department.

During the operation, the owner of Kachchi Dine was fined Taka 20,000 after officials found stale cooked meat and expired almond juice. Meanwhile, the owner of Kachchi Dining was fined Taka 10,000 for storing expired mawa.

Authorities immediately destroyed the stale cooked meat, expired almond juice and mawa found during the inspection.

District Sanitary Inspector Md. Nazrul Islam and members of law enforcement agencies were present during the operation.

Officials said such market monitoring drives will continue to ensure food safety and protect consumer rights.
