Zia emerges champion

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS)- FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh Ansar emerged champion in the 49th National ‘B’ Chess Championship held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room today (Saturday).

Zia earned 7.5 points to clinch the title. 

International Master Abu Safian Shakil became runner-up with seven points. 

Three players earned 6.5 points each. In the tie-breaking system, FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid of Bangladesh Army became 3rd, International Master Md. Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy became 4th and FIDE Master Subrota Biswas of Dhaka University became 5th. 

Seven players earned six points each. In tie-breaking system among them FIDE Master Md. Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy became 6th, FIDE Master Mohammad Javed of Bangladesh Navy became 7th, Mohammed Shaker Ullah of Cox’s Bazar became 8th, Candidate Master Md. Abu Hanif of Sadharan Bima Corporation became 9th, FIDE Master Khandaker Aminul Islam became 10th, Anata Choudhurya became 11th and Candidate Master Shafiq Ahmed became 12th.

GM Niaz Murshed, reigning national champion IM Manon Reja Neer, runner-up IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman and top eleven players from National B will participate in the final phase of the 49th National Chess Championship 2025.
