In his welcome remarks, the High Commissioner highlighted the deep and enduring bonds between Bangladesh and India, rooted in their shared geography, history, language and culture.

He said cricket remained another significant link connecting the two neighbours.

Verma noted that the women’s cricket teams of both countries had undergone an impressive transformation in recent years, competing with passion and producing high-quality performances that made their nations proud.

He described the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team as a symbol of women’s empowerment and youth power, expressing confidence that their journey would inspire every girl-child in Bangladesh to pursue her dreams and excel in her chosen field.

Extending his best wishes for the tournament, the High Commissioner said Bangladesh’s women cricketers would continue to reach “greater glory and newer heights.”
