FENI, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - A truck driver was killed and another person injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Feni early today.

The deceased was identified as Md. Ripon Mia, 50, driver of the truck. The injured was Kamal Hossain, 34, the truck's helper.

Police said the accident occurred around 5 am in front of Samrat Factory at Rampur when a Dhaka-bound covered van suddenly stopped after applying brakes. Losing control, the truck rammed into the rear of the covered van, leaving Ripon dead on the spot and Kamal injured.

Officer-in-Charge of Mahipal Highway Police Harun ur Rashid told BSS that police, with assistance from the Fire Service, rescued the victims and sent them to Feni General Hospital.

The covered van fled the scene before police arrived.

Legal procedures over the incident are underway, police added.
