5 criminals held, huge arms and ammunition recovered from Raozan in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 20 , 2025 ( BSS):- Law enforcing agencies have arrested five alleged criminals and recovered huge quantities of arms and ammunition as part of on-going combined drives from different places of violence-prone Roazan upazila in the district during last 12 hours ending on Thursday morning . 

The law enforcers have initiated to carry out combing operation in violence -dominated Raozan upazila in the district following series of killings and violent clashes between political rival groups in last 15 months. 

During the raids, law enforcers seized eight Light Guns (LG), six cartridges, 14 knives, 7 various types of machetes. 

Superintendent of Police (SP)  Chattogram,  Saiful Islam Shantu at a press conference  this morning said the current combing operation with the participation of police, APBN, RAB and Naval police will continue until detaining of miscreants from the area in order to restore law and order considering the peaceful holding of upcoming election. 

Last night’s drives conducted in Bagowan, Noapara, Purba and Paschim Gujra, Sultanpur, Kadalpur and Pourashava areas under the upazila . 

A total of 28 motor bikes and one truck were also seized and 27 cases were filed under Motor Vehicle Acts during the drives. 

SP Saiful Islam told the press conference that a total of 577 different types of firearms, 462 rounds of ammunition and 206 cartridges have been recovered while 96 cases were filed under arms act along with detaining of 104 suspected criminals from January to till to date.
