Tarique Rahman's birthday celebrated

DHAKA, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - The 61st birthday of BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was celebrated across the country today.

The birthday of Tarique Rahman was celebrated in a simple manner as the BNP instructed its leaders and activists not to arrange any celebrations, including cake-cutting, on the occasion.

The eldest son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia was born on November 20, 1965.

In Bogura, a doa mahfil was held at Baitur Rahman Central Mosque on the initiative of the district BNP, marking the birthday of Tarique Rahman.

BNP Chairperson's Adviser and former municipality mayor AKM Mahbubur Rahman, former MP Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, former MP Golam Md Siraj, former MP Kazi Rafiqul Islam, former district BNP president Saiful Islam, acting general secretary Mosharraf Hossain, BNP national executive committee members Joynal Abedin Chan and Ali Azgar Talukder Hena and former district BNP convener Saiful Islam were present, among others.

In Sherpur, a free medical camp and free medicine distribution campaign was organised by Sherpur Sadar unit BNP, inaugurated by BNP nominated candidate for Sherpur-1 Dr Sunsila Jabrin Priyanka.

President of the Central Committee of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid was present at the function as the chief guest.

Sherpur District BNP Convener Adv Sirajul Islam, District BNP Member Secretary ABM Mamunur Rashid Palash, DAB Acting Secretary General Professor Dr Khalequzzaman Dipu, DAB Treasurer Dr Md Mehedi Hasan, Sadar Upazila BNP Convener Hazrat Ali, and Member Secretary Saiful Islam were, among others, present.

In Naogaon, educational materials were distributed among orphan students of a local madrasa at the initiative of Naogaon District Chhatra Dal on the occasion of the birthday of Tarique Rahman.

Nagoan District Chhatra Dal acting President Zakaria Hossain Zakir, General Secretary Md Mamun Bin Islam Doha, Senior Joint General Secretary Abdul Quader Russel, Joint General Secretary Sohagh and Azizul and Assistant General Secretary Lutfar were present, among others.

A blood donation programme was held in Barishal. The programme was organised by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal in front of Ashwini Kumar Town Hall this afternoon.

The blood donation programme was inaugurated by Advocate Mujibur Rahman Sarwar, adviser to the BNP Chairperson and BNP candidate for Barishal-5 constituency. 

On the occasion of the birthday of Tarique Rahman, Baufal Upazila Chhatra Dal distributed the Holy Quran among the students of Bilbilas Nesaria Fazil Madrasa in Patuakhali

The holy Qurans were officially distributed on Madrasa premises around 1 pm today. Along with the teachers and students of the madrasa, former convener of Baufal Municipality Chhatra Dal Md Abdullah Al Fahad and former joint convener of Baufal Upazila Chhatra Dal Md Niaz Hossain Khan were present.

In Tangail, a doa mahfil was held at Court Mosque this afternoon, organised by the district BNP.

BNP Central Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Tangail District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shahin, General Secretary Farhad Iqbal, former Member Secretary Mahmudur Rahman Sanu, former Joint Secretary Kazi Shafiqur Rahman Liton and Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Abdur Rauf participated in the doa mahfil.

Marking the Tarique Rahman's birthday, a rally was held in Cumilla city where BNP Chairperson's Adviser Haji Amin Ur Rashid Yasin spoke as the chief guest.

He said there was an ill-effort to weaken the BNP by sending BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to jail and driving Tarique Rahman out of the country. 

But, with the love of millions of people of the country and the organisational skills of its leaders, BNP has become a stronger party, he said. 

Amin Ur Rashid said even from hundreds of miles away, Tarique Rahman is in regular contact with BNP workers. Under his leadership, BNP is today established as the largest political force in the country, he added.

Leaders and activists of Cumilla-6 celebrated the 61st birth anniversary of the BNP Acting Chairman by reciting the holy Quran, holding doa mahfils and distributing food to orphans throughout the day.
