National Table Tennis competition to begin Jan 9

DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - The National Table Tennis competition will begin at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital from January 9 next instead of December 30 as scheduled earlier.

This time the tournament is starting with the singles ranking tournament for boys’ and girls’ under 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. Only singles rankings for boys’ and girls’ will be held on the first two days of the competition. It is mentionable that there is no national ranking for Bangladesh below the Under-19 level.

A total of fourteen much-awaited events will be held from January 11 to 18 among under-19 boys’ and girls’ and senior men and women. 

Of these, seven events are in the senior category and equal number of events are in the junior (U-19) category. 
These events are men's team, men's singles, men's doubles, women's team, women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. 

In the junior (U-19) category, there are (U-19) boys' singles,  boys' doubles, boys' team, girls' singles, girls' doubles, girls' team, and mixed doubles.

The top eight players in the boys' division at the National Table Tennis competition will get the opportunity to participate in the men in the senior category. 

There is no specific number limit for girls - meaning girls of any age will have the opportunity to play in the senior category.

The organizations or institutions that can participate in the competition are district and divisional Sports Association, education boards and universities (3) services teams such as Bangladesh army, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Bangladesh Jail Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police, BKSP, Government institutions, including Bangladesh Railway, BRTC, BTMC, Rural Electricity and Customs.

The deadline for submitting entries for the competition is December 31 at 12 midnight.
