DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Pacer Abdul Gaffar Saqlain vowed to continue his
consistent performance as he sets his sights firmly on earning a place in the
Bangladesh national team.

Saqlain first came into the spotlight with his performances in the NCL T20
and has since continued to prove his credentials in the latest Bangladesh
Premier League (BPL).

The bowling all-rounder once again showcased his ability on both departments
taking three wickets for 23 runs for Duronto XI in the Odommo Bangladesh T20
Cup, while also contributing 18 runs off just 9 balls.

Speaking at a media conference, Saqlain expressed his long-held dream of
representing Bangladesh.

"Actually, every player wants to represent his country. I will try my best,
the rest is Allah's will. First of all, thanks to almighty Allah for whatever
I have been able to do," Saqlain said.

"I try to stay within my strengths. There is no end to improvement, and I am
trying to get better day by day. As much as I have been able to do,
Alhamdulillah, and InshaAllah, I will try harder in the future."

Saqlain emphasized the importance of confidence in both batting and bowling,
crediting his belief in self and guidance from coaches for his gradual
improvement.

"I always believe in my own strengths. Allah is the owner of all. Good games
and bad games are in His hands-I will just try my best," he said.

"When I was called up to the HP team, I worked on both batting and bowling.
The coaches-- Rajin (Saleh) Sir and David Hemp-- pointed out my mistakes
there. I am improving day by day, and I hope it will be even better in the
future."

Following Duronto's elimination from the Odommo Bangladesh T20 Cup, Saqlain
is set for a longer break, which he plans to use productively as he prepares
for upcoming competitions.

"Our BCL will be in the ODI format, so I will prepare myself accordingly," he
said. "I will focus on training and fitness, Insha Allah. After playing in
the National League following the first division cricket two years ago, I
hired a trainer. After moving to the HP setup, I have been working with
Tushar (Imran) Sir. He gave me a plan, and I am following it. Ifti (Iftikhar
Islam) bhai was also in the last BPL and gave me guidance. I am continuing
that process."
