DHAKA, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh national team captains Liton Das and
Mehidy Hasan Miraz have signed for Legends of Rupganj on the second day of
the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) transfer window, after initially going
unpicked on the opening day.
Liton, the T20 captain, had faced uncertainty during last season's DPL
transfer window before eventually joining Gulshan Cricket Club under Tamim
Iqbal's side. ODI captain Miraz, meanwhile, featured for Mohammedan Sporting
Club in the previous edition.
Legends of Rupganj chairman Lutfar Rahman Badal was present during the
transfer activity.
Liton expressed excitement over joining a new team environment.
"This is definitely a good experience for me. I was playing in one place for
a long time. I played for Gulshan last year, and this time I got a chance in
a new team. We know Badal Bhai from before; he always tries to form a good
team. No matter how many matches we get, we will try to contribute in every
game," he said.
Miraz also thanked the club management for bringing both national captains
into the same side.
"Alhamdulillah, I thank Badal Bhai for taking both of us into the team. This
is my first time for Rupganj. We all know his contribution to club cricket.
We will try to give our best," he said.
However, Miraz is unlikely to feature in all matches due to national team
commitments, leaving uncertainty over the captaincy role. When asked about
leadership, Liton humorously pointed towards Miraz.
Despite that, Miraz made it clear that the team's goal is to clinch the
title.
"Our target is definitely to win championship. The squad is well balanced. If
we can maintain good bonding and play together well, InshaAllah we will have
a chance to become champions," he said.
Liton echoed the same sentiment, stressing team unity and national duty
priorities.
"If we can play together with good bonding, we will have a chance to win the
title. Our first priority is always national duty. After that, whenever we
get the chance, we will try to help the club as much as possible," he said.
Liton and Miraz have long been teammates in the Bangladesh national setup
across all formats, but this marks their first joint appearance in domestic
club cricket.
"I have never played with Miraz in club cricket before. We have played
together for the national team in all formats, but this is my first Dhaka
League experience with him. I will understand better after playing," Liton
added.
