DHAKA, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh women's team made a commanding start in beach kabaddi in Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China defeating one of the tournament's strongest contenders, Thailand, by a convincing 51-34 margin today.
Displaying an aggressive approach from the outset, Bangladesh quickly took control of the match. Although Thailand showed early resistance, they struggled to cope with the pace of Bangladesh's raiders and the discipline of their defense.
By the end of the first half, Bangladesh had established a solid 10-point lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
The Bangladeshi side maintained dominance throughout, excelling in both raiding and defensive play. While Thailand attempted a late comeback, Bangladesh's tactical execution and consistency ensured a comfortable victory.
This 17-point win not only highlights Bangladesh's strength but also positions them as one of the early favorites in the tournament. Traditionally a strong force in South Asian kabaddi, Bangladesh once again demonstrated their quality on the international stage.
The emphatic victory is expected to provide a significant psychological boost as the team looks ahead to the knockout stages.
Bangladesh will face Nepal in their second match tomorrow.
