Milon seeks more UK scholarship for Bangladeshi students

DHAKA, April 23, 2026 (BSS)- Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has called for more scholarship for Bangladeshi students for their higher studies in UK.

The minister made the call when a delegation led by British Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka James Goldman paid a courtesy call on him at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat here.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and Adviser for the Education and Primary and Mass Education Mahdi Amin were present.

During the discussion, the minister expressed sincere thanks to the United Kingdom government for its continued support to Bangladesh’s education sector and other areas.

He particularly praised the effective role of the British Council in improving English language education in Bangladesh.

The minister hoped that the scope of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries would be expanded further in future.

Mr. Goldman appreciated various initiatives undertaken by Bangladesh government in the education and other sectors.
Mohammad Golam Kabir of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of UK, British Council Country Director Stephen Forbes and Head of English and School Education Deepti Das were present.
