DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the first Test of next month’s series against Pakistan, including two uncapped players in Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Amite Hasan.
Opener Tanzid Hasan, who has already established himself in the national team in white ball cricket, has earned a first call up to the Test side.
The 25-year-old left-hander has an impressive first class record with 1792 runs in 25 matches at an average of 40.
The 24-year-old right-handed middle order batter Amite Hasan has been a prolific batter over the years in the domestic circuit. He averages 49 in first class cricket having played 49 matches since making his debut in 2019.
Pace duo Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam return to the Test fold for the first time since November-December 2024. Off Spinner Nayeem Hasan is also back nearly a year after playing his last Test.
“Tanzid has been in our thoughts for Test cricket. He has a very good first-class record and we felt he deserved the opportunity to showcase his ability in Tests,” chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon said, explaining the reason behind Tanzid and Amite’s inclusion.
Tanzid has a sound technique and plenty of natural ability. We are confident that if he gets the chance, he can perform well in the longer format, he said.
“Amite has earned his call-up as he has been one of the most consistent batters in our first-class cricket. His temperament stands out and we believe it is well suited for Test cricket, the cheif selector said.
“This format demands patience and discipline, and he has shown those qualities over a sustained period,” he said.
Sumon expected that “both the players have time on their side and can serve Bangladesh for a very long period.”
Pakistan team will arrive in Bangladesh on May 3 for two-match Test series.
The first Test will start on May 8 at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium will host the second Test, beginning on May 16. The matches are a part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle:
