Army chief distributes prizes at Tiger Cement Chief Patron Cup Golf Tournament

DHAKA, May 17, 2026 (BSS) – Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army General Waker-Uz-Zaman attended the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the four-day ‘Tiger Cement Chief Patron Cup Golf Tournament-2026’ at the Army Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment here on Saturday. 

“The army chief as the chief guest also distributed prizes among the winners of the tournament,” said a release of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate here early today. 

Speaking on the occasion, he hoped that such competitions would play an important role in the development of golf in the country. 

The army chief also thanked all concerned for organising the tournament, the ISPR added.

A total of 881 golfers took part in the tournament where Wing Commander Md Golam Mostafa Sarker emerged as the champion.

In the veteran category, Captain (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain became champion, while Lt Col (retd)  Iqbal Enamul Kabir  won the senior category title.

Meanwhile, Mrs Nila Aziz secured the title in the ladies category, while Master Abdullah Rafian Kaiyum became champion in the junior category.

Senior military officials of Bangladesh Army, president and chief executive officer of Army Golf Club, chairman of the tournament committee, members of the executive committee, senior officials of sponsoring organisations, journalists and other distinguished guests were present at the function.
