3,200 Jamalpur farmers receive jute cultivation incentives

JAMALPUR, April 9, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 3,200 small and marginal farmers in Jamalpur district have received government incentives to promote jute cultivation this season.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), the assistance was distributed across all seven upazilas of the district. 

Each farmer received one kilogram of jute seed, five kilograms of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP), and five kilograms of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer-free of cost-for cultivating one bigha of land.

The upazila-wise distribution includes: 480 farmers in Sadar, 460 in Sarishabari, 250 in Melandah, 900 in Islampur, 380 in Dewanganj, 370 in Madarganj, and 360 farmers in Bakshiganj.

DAE Deputy Director Zakia Sultana said the initiative aims to boost jute production and support farmers with necessary inputs.
