NETRAKONA, April 9, 2025 (BSS) - Boro paddy harvesting has begun in haor
areas of the district.

A festive atmosphere prevails among the farmers of the haor areas with paddy
harvesting, threshing and sweeping.

Farmers are busy harvesting Boro paddy from morning to evening as they are
happy with good yield this year.

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) office said at least 1,000
harvester machines are harvesting Boro paddy in the haor areas. Several
thousand workers, including farmers, are involved in harvesting the paddy.

A total of 1,85,320 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation
in 10 upazilas of the district.

Of the total, 54,840 hectares of land were brought under the cultivation in
the district's haor upazilas of Madan, Khaliajuri and Mohanganj.

Babul Mia, a farmer from Jagannathpur village in Khaliajuri upazila of the
district, said, "We have started harvesting paddy in the haor areas for the
last four to five days. This time the yield has been quite good. We can
easily harvest paddy with a harvester machine."

Abdus Salam, a resident of Tetulia village in Mohanganj upazila, said,
"Harvesting of Boro paddy is going on in all the haors including Dingapota,
one of a biggest haorin the district. Although the yield is good, the cost of
production and harvesting of paddy is a little higher this time. Still,
Alhamdulillah. We are fully satisfied if we can successfully take all paddy
homes from the land without any obstacle."

Mohammad Nuruzzaman, deputy director of the DAE, said, "Paddy harvesting in
the haor areas is going on in full swing. About 700 harvester machines in the
district are now busy harvesting paddy. Additionally, more machines have been
brought from outside the district. Hopefully, 100 percent paddy harvesting in
the haor areas will be completed very soon."
