DHAKA, Mar 3, 2025 (BSS)- Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has said Anjuman Mufidul Islam has long been serving as an institution, while it is carrying out activities vigorously by burying unclaimed dead bodies and taking care of orphan children.
“I don’t know if such an institution can be found elsewhere in the subcontinent. Anjuman is doing job as a historical and unique institution,” he said.
The Chief Adviser said this at a doa and iftar mahfil hosted by Anjuman Mufidul Islam at its Kakrail office today.
The Chief Adviser also inaugurated ‘Anjuman JR Tower’, a new building of the charity organization and joined an iftar with orphans.
Addressing the function Prof Yunus said no matter how remote and difficult the situation is, Anjuman Mufidul Islam recovers the unclaimed bodies and arrange for their burial all over the country.
“Especially, during the corona pandemic, the name of this organisation has come up time and again,” he added.
Glorifying the mission of the Anjuman Mufidul Islam, the chief adviser said it waits for unclaimed bodies wherever those are found but it never makes statement or publicise the news about their activities.
He said the name of Anjuman Mufidul Islam is allied with the history of Bangladesh and the Muslim society as “it is a long-established organization of our society”.
The Chief Adviser said he feels fortunate to have the opportunity to see their activities in person at the Anjuman Mufidul Islam building.
Stating that he does not want to see any more unclaimed bodies anywhere, Prof Yunus said, “Let Anjuman Mufidul Islam continue its work of burying unclaimed bodies, but let us create a society where no more body will be found unclaimed.”
“Burial is good, but our goal is that no one's body should be left unclaimed in the country,” he added.
Calling upon the people to eliminate the drawbacks of the society, Prof Yunus said, “Let us eliminate the flaws. All should work attentively from their respective position for the society.”
The Chief Adviser expressed gratitude to those who have been serving in the institution like Anjuman Mufidul Islam for a long time with devotion, talent and finance.
The Chief Adviser hoped that the activities of Anjuman would be expanded in many more directions.
Advisers Dr Salehuddin Ahmed and Ali Imam Majumder and Anjuman Mufidul Islam president Mufleh R Osmany and its vice-president Ghulam Rahman were present on the occasion.
