DSE turnover exceeds TK 6 billion mark

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) today
witnessed record-high trading activity on the third trading day of the
week as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, charged up by 32.9
points or 0.6% to settle at 5,268 points, as against 5,235 points in
the previous trading session.
 
Market analysts observed that buyers maintained their dominance
throughout the session as optimistic investors kept on chasing the
current rallies in sector-specific issues, while price appreciation in
Bank stocks, one of the large-cap sectors, added further strength to
the market’s upward momentum.
 
Apparently, investor participation continued to increase as total
turnover rose by 11.6% to a more than 3.0-month high of BDT 6.1
billion as against Taka 5.4 billion in the previous session.
 
On the sectoral front, Bank (17.5%) issues exerted the highest
turnover, followed by Textile (11.5%) and Pharma (11.1%) sectors.
Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Life Ins (-1.5%),
Textile (-0.9%) and Engineering (-0.3%) exerted the most corrections,
while Travel (3.6%), Paper (2.9%) and Bank (2.5%) exhibited gains on
the bourse today. Out of the 397 issues traded, 194 advanced, 155
declined and 48 remained unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on green terrain. The
Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI)
advanced by 80.0 and 135.4 points, respectively.
