BJS for more security measures, praises govt measures

DHAKA, March 12, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jewelry Samity (BJS) today urged the government to take more security measures for protecting the country's jewelry industry and praised recent measures taken by the government in this regard.

Acting President and General Secretary of the samity Gulzar Ahmed and Badal Chandra Ray in a statement alleged that the incidents of theft, dacoity and snatching have been increased in recent time. The attacks on the jewelry traders and owners have also been increased across the country, they added.

Gulzar Ahmed said that the workers related to the sector and its owners are frightened now due to frequent attacks and urged the home adviser to take immediate steps in this regard. 

Badal Chandra Ray urged the government to take appropriate measures to stop the recurrences of such attacks in the sector and demanded to return the licensed arms of the jewelry traders.
