DHAKA, March 12, 2025 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will hold a workshop
on March 16 to identify the problems in the e-return filing system and thus finding out suitable solutions.

The workshop will be held from 2pm to 3:30pm at the Multipurpose Hall of the Revenue Board Building, Agargaon in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area, said a press release.

The NBR opened the online return filing system for taxpayers from September 9 last year in order to simplify the income tax return filing and tax payment system for the fiscal year 2024-2025.

By using the website www.etaxnbr.gov.bd, individual taxpayers submitted their income tax
returns easily and quickly for the fiscal year 2024-2025 through online and thus could download and print copies of the submitted returns, acknowledgement letters, income tax certificates, TIN certificates.

At the same time, taxpayers are getting the benefits of tax payment and tax adjustment through internet banking, card payment (debit/credit card) and mobile banking.

Based on the needs and opinions of the esteemed taxpayers, the online return filing process has been gradually simplified and made more taxpayer-friendly, while the e-return system has received a huge response from the taxpayers, as a result of which more than 14.85 lakh taxpayers have already filed their returns through online this year and more than 19 lakh taxpayers have completed registration for e-return.

The NBR hoped that if the existing problems of the system can be identified and eliminated, all
taxpayers will be able to file income tax returns online from the next tax year.

In this context, the NBR will organize a workshop on identifying the problems of the e-return system for online return filing and thus finding out solutions with the participation of stakeholders from different classes and professions who use the e-return system.

The NBR is planning to make it compulsory for all the individual taxpayers and corporate
taxpayers to submit their income tax return through online from next fiscal.

The revenue collecting authority has taken the move as it received good results from the online income tax return submission this year.
