Stocks extend gaining streak

DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, advanced by 9.5 points to settle at 5,226 points, as against 5,216 points in the previous trading session.

Although investors remained active on both sides of the trading fence, buyers ended up on the dominant side riding on the last-hour buying activity.

However, market turnover decreased by 8.5% to Taka 4.1 billion as against Taka 4.5 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Food (15.0%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (12.1%) and Textile (11.6%) sectors.

Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Ceramic (2.2%), General Insurance (2.1%) and Jute (0.7%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today, while Fuel & Power (-1.1%), Life Insurance (-1.1%) and Paper (-1.0%) exerted the most corrections.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 163 advanced, 152 declined and 82 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a positive session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) edged up by 5.2 points and 2.1 points, respectively.
