The initiative, introduced through the Meet Bangladesh Show (MBS) by Export Competitiveness for Jobs (EC4J) Project under the ministry of commerce financed by the World Bank, exhibited Bangladesh's growing light engineering sector.

The primary objective of the EC4J project is to establish global market linkages.

The light engineering sector in the country is now considered to be a highly potential sector in the country, driven by rising demand for locally made products.

It supports key industries like agriculture, construction, and automobiles and created employment for around eight lakh people in the country.
