Stocks rebound on both bourses

DHAKA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions,stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges riding on the government steps to help revamp the ailing market.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, slightly advanced up by 
4.9 points to settle at 5,210 points, as against 5,205 points in the previous trading session.

Investor participation has been observed in certain Bank stocks, as 
anticipation builds ahead of their corporate earnings and dividend declarations. 

Moreover, mutual fund scrips also dominated the top gainer list owing to the 
buying appetite of short-term gain-focused investors. 

However, market turnover decreased by 10.7% to Taka 4.5 billion as against 
Taka 5.1 billion in the previous session. 

On the sectoral front, Pharma (14.4%) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Bank (12.3%) and Textile (11.1%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed mixed returns, out of which Mutual Fund (3.9%), Services (1.0%) and Fuel & Power (0.8%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today, while Paper (-0.6%), Cement (-0.4%) and Engineering (-0.3%) exerted the most corrections. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 185 advanced, 153 declined and 59 remained 
unchanged. 

The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a positive session today. The 
Selective Categories Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced by 5.8 points and 12.6 points, respectively.
