Shares in European automakers sink after Trump tariffs

PARIS, March 27, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Shares in European automakers and car parts manufacturers slipped on Thursday after US President Donald Trump announced huge tariffs on auto imports.

Porsche, Mercedes and BMW fell more than four percent in early deals on the Frankfurt stock market while shares in Stellantis, the maker of Jeep, Peugeot and Fiat, sank more than six percent in Paris.

Auto parts maker Continental fell 2.7 percent while Valeo and Forvia shed more than five percent.
