Swiss stock market drops over 2% after stiff US tariffs

LONDON, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Switzerland's stock market fell over two percent at Monday's open, its first session as it returned from a holiday after a tough 39-percent US tariff rate was announced.

Other European indices started the week on the front foot, with the Paris CAC 40 and Frankfurt's DAX each gaining 0.5 percent. London's benchmark FTSE 100 index won 0.2 percent.
