Stocks extend losing streak

DHAKA, Aug 07, 2025 (BSS)- Stocks today extended its losing streak as profit-taking continued to weigh on investor sentiment. 

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, declined by 63.1 points or 1.2% to settle at 5,408 points as against 5,471 points in the previous trading session. 

On the sectoral front, Bank (17.6%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharmaceutical (14.8%) and Textile (11.3%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Cement (-2.7%), Ceramic (-2.2%) and Fuel & Power (-1.9%) exerted the most corrections.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 77 advanced, 266 declined and 54 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, however, witnessed a bearish session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) plunged by 107.1 and 162.2 points, respectively.
