Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today plunged mainly due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 28.6 points or 0.5% to settle at 5,315 points as against 5,344 points in the previous trading session. 

On the sectoral front, Pharmaceutical (17.4%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (14.6%) and Textile (12.2%) sectors. 

Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Cement (-2.2%), IT (-1.4%) and Textile (-1.1%) exerted the most corrections today. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 115 advanced, 221 declined and 61 remained unchanged.

The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) of CSE declined by 53.2 and 84.9 points, respectively.
