Stocks extend gaining streak

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange 
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today witnessed an upward trend 
like earlier as investors continued showing renewed buying interest 
particularly on banking and textile sector stocks. 

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, advanced by 51.2 points or 1.0 percent (pc) 
to settle at 5,401 points compared to 5,350 points in the previous trading 
session. 

Market analysts observed that the market commenced with a strong bullish 
momentum, which sustained throughout the session till the closing bell. 

On the sectoral front, Bank (18.1pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Pharmaceutical (16.7pc) and Textile (11.1pc) sectors. 

Sectors mostly displayed positive returns, out of which Textile (2.3pc), Bank 
(2.0pc) and Paper (1.2pc) showed the most gains on the bourse today. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 202 advanced, 132 declined and 63 remained 
unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also experienced a bullish session today. The 
Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) 
propelled by 79.1 and 124.1 points respectively.
