BGMEA signs MoU with BBCC to strengthen Canada-Bangladesh trade

DHAKA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering cooperation, strengthening business ties, and creating new opportunities for mutual trade and investment growth.

The signing ceremony took place today at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara. BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan signed the MoU on behalf of BGMEA, while BBCC President Alamgir M. Rahman signed on behalf of the chamber.

BGMEA First Vice-President Selim Rahman, Senior Vice-President Enamul Haque Khan, Vice-President Md. Rezoan Selim, Vice-President (Finance) Mizanur Rahman, Director Faisal Samad, Director Nafis-Ud-Daula, and former Director Iqbal Hamid Quraishi Adnan were present among others, said a BGMEA press release.

Through this MoU, BGMEA and BBCC have established an institutional partnership to provide mutual benefits to their respective members. The agreement is expected to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, and knowledge sharing between the two organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said, “This MoU with BBCC will help us tap into the immense potential of the Canadian and North American markets. Our goal is to strengthen bilateral economic relations through enhanced trade, investment, and knowledge exchange.”

Under the MoU, both organizations agreed to collaborate in the following areas:

Strengthening networking and communication among members, and facilitating knowledge exchange; Jointly organizing trade fairs, exhibitions, and business delegations in both Canada and Bangladesh, and promoting Bangladeshi apparel and textile products in Canada and North America; Enhancing entrepreneurial and professional capabilities through training and skills development; Promoting investment opportunities in the apparel, textile, and related sectors between the two countries, and encouraging partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborations; Sharing information, policies, and research on global market trends for the benefit of members.

The BGMEA also expressed optimism that this partnership would elevate the business relations between Bangladesh and Canada to a new height.
