DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - Stocks today edged into positive territory after a brief pause in the previous session, defying uncertainties surrounding upcoming legal proceedings on margin rules, although market participation has yet to recover as cautious investors stayed on the sidelines to observe market direction.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 46.7 points and settled at 4,916 points as against 4,869 points in the previous trading session.

Market analysts observed that market indices maintained an upward trajectory throughout the session, supported by broad-based price appreciation across most scrips.

Moreover, buyers exerting significant dominance in the final hour of the session added further strength to the market’s upward trajectory, they added.

However, investor participation remained subdued, with market turnover declining further by 13.4% to Taka 3.9 billion from Taka 4.5 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, the Engineering (15.5%) accounted for the highest share of turnover, followed by Fuel & Power (14.5%) and Pharmaceuticals (12.3%). Almost all the sectors displayed positive returns, out of which Life Insurance (2.6%), Paper (2.4%) and IT (2.0%) exhibited the most gains on the bourse today, while Mutual Fund (-0.4%) and Pharma (-0.1%) exerted some corrections.

Of the 397 issues traded, 248 advanced, 82 declined, and 67 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a positive zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced by 13.0 points and 34.5 points, respectively.
