16.2pc growth in remittance inflow till April 28

DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) – The country’s remittance inflow registered a 16.2 percent year-on-year growth, reaching US$2,908 million in the first 28 days of April, according to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank today.

During the same period last year, remittance inflow stood at $2,503 million.

Cumulatively, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $29,117 million in remittances during the period from July to April 28 of the current fiscal year.

 This marks a notable increase compared to $24,288 million received during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

The steady rise in remittance inflow continues to play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s foreign exchange reserves and supporting overall economic stability.
