DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) today signed a Joint Collaboration Framework (JCF) to strengthen cooperation between the country’s two leading professional accounting bodies.

The framework was signed at the ICAB Council Hall in the city, said a press release.

Under the agreement, the two institutes will collaborate on continuing professional development, joint research and publications, professional events, policy advocacy and international engagement.

A joint coordination committee, comprising equal representation from both institutes, will oversee implementation of the framework and meet at least four times a year.

The institutes said the partnership would help raise professional standards, strengthen governance and contribute to Bangladesh’s economic development.

ICAB President Sabbir Ahmed FCA said the two institutes need to raise a unified voice to influence national policy and strengthen the accounting profession.

ICMAB President Kausar Alam FCMA said the organisations would work together at the policy level and act as the voice of the nation for the accounting profession.

The deal, a key component of ICAB’s Professional Accountancy Organizations (PAOs) reform strategy for 2025-30, was signed by ICAB CEO Md. Quamruzzaman and ICMAB Executive Director Md. Mahbub-Ul-Alam FCMA.

ICAB Vice Presidents Asifur Rahman FCA and Mohammad Redwanur Rahman FCA, Council Member Md. Moniruzzaman FCA, and senior officials of both institutes attended the signing ceremony.
