Ferry movement on Aricha-Kazirhat route resumes

MANIKGANJ, Jan 6, 2025 (BSS) – The ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat route in the Jamuna River resumed after 3:30 hours of suspension due to dense fog, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha Ghat sources said.

The Deputy General Manager (DGM) of BIWTC Aricha Ghat Md. Abdullah said the ferry service on the Aricha-Kazirhat route was suspended at 6.10 am due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river bed.

He said four ferries - Chitra, Dhan Siri, Khan Jahan Ali and Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman-- were anchored in the middle of the Jamuna loaded with vehicles and passengers While ferry Kishani was anchored at the Aricha Ghat. 

The ferry movement, however, resumed at 9.40 this morning, BIWTC sources said.
