KHULNA, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS)- Seven brickfields were penalized worth Taka 13 lakh on a charge of operating their business ignoring direction of the higher court in Dumuria Upazila of the district on Monday.

Besides, the oven of three other brickfields was shut down after making those dysfunctional.

A mobile court initiated by the Department of Environment (DoE) took administrative action against the law violators from morning to evening. DoE Executive Magistrate Momtaz Begum and Asadur Rahman conducted the mobile court.

Magistrate Momtaz Begum told the local journalists that many of the brickfields were established in Kharnia and Solagatia areas after grabbing the reclaimed lands in Bhadra and Hari rivers. The brickfields were functioning illegally for a long time. 

DoE Assistant Director Parvej Ahmed, Inspector Maruf Billah and Members of the enforcement team, police and fire brigade extended support to the mobile team.
