Farmer killed in elephant attack in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - A farmer was attacked and killed by a wild elephant in Kumari Bichainnarchhara area under Lama upazila of the district last night.

The deceased was Faridul Alam alias Putu Mia, son of late Ali Ahamed, a resident of Uttar Ghunia Pahartali area under Chakaria upazila of the district.

Alam was killed when a male partner of the elephant attacked him before it was electrocuted to death, AKM Ata Elahi, Range Officer of Lama Forest Department confirmed it.

The pregnant elephant came in contact with a live electric wire which was set up by the farmer to protect his tobacco field in the area.
