Welfare-oriented research for nation stressed

KHULNA, Jan 10, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a participatory meeting here unanimously viewed that all the scientific research must be welfare-oriented which will be fruitful for the nation and the country as well and utmost emphasis should be given to this end.
 
There is no way but to select and conduct research which will be impactful for the public in general as they expect more from the researchers to improve their living and livelihood conditions.

Academics and researchers came up with the observation while reviewing the research projects proposed for the second phase of the current 2024-25 academic year.

The Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) at Khulna University (KU) organized the daylong meeting at the conference hall of its Building of Administration on Thursday.

With KU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Rezaul Karim in the chair, the meeting was addressed by Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Harunor Rashid Khan, Treasurer Prof Nurunnnabi, RIC Director Prof Kazi Didarul Islam and its members Prof Golam Hossain, Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed Khan and Prof Sheikh Jamal Uddin.

VC Prof Rezaul Karim said there is an urgent need to conduct research related to human welfare and realistic so that findings of the research can play pioneer roles towards improving the living condition of the marginalized people.

"If we can transform the previous small research into big ones it will be impactful for the society," Prof Karim added.
 
Pro-vice-chancellor Prof Harunor Rashid Khan stressed the need for selecting the research projects giving emphasis on hopes and aspirations of the mass-people.
 
He said if the research provides benefits to the marginalized people it will be meaningful. In this context, there will be no problem of fund allocation in favour of the research project.
